The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1-1/2" x 60" and features CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, they are compatible with multiple industrial belt sanders for applications on both wood and metal. Wide belts suit sanding and finishing large wood panels with wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for sanding or blending items such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are ideal for metalworking tools accessing small areas or inside corners. Manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals, the aluminum oxide used here is a hard, blocky mineral offering high cut-rate and long life; it contrasts with silicon carbide, which is sharper but breaks down faster and yields a finer finish. Belt sanders employing these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing across various surfaces without clogging, as grooves in the abrasive belt open around the drive wheel arc to maintain efficiency. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish.
