The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Belt measures 1-1/8" x 21" and features aluminum oxide abrasive mineral designed for use on cold rolled steel (CRS) grit. This durable belt is engineered for detailed metalworking tasks such as blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. It effectively removes coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. The Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are available with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasives; silicon carbide is sharp and suitable for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but breaking down faster, while aluminum oxide offers a high cut rate and long life with a harder, blocky mineral composition. These belts fit a variety of industrial belt sanders, including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders used in wood sanding or blending, and narrow belts designed for metalworking to reach small areas or inside corners. Belt sanders maintain sanding efficiency as their abrasive belts resist clogging due to small grooves that continuously open around the drive wheel arc.
