The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1-1/8" x 21" and features an aluminum oxide medium grit abrasive designed for detail work including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives, and are available in multiple widths and lengths to fit a variety of belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. The selection includes belts for wide belt sanders used on large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders suitable for wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking file tools accessing tight areas or inside corners. Abrasive minerals used include silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing that breaks down faster but produces a finer finish, and aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut rate and long life. Belt sanders provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces without clogging, as small grooves in the abrasive belt open around the drive wheel arc, maintaining efficiency where sanding wheels and discs may clog.
