The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 5-3/8" x 11-5/8" with medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit a wide array of industrial belt sanding tools, suitable for applications on both wood and metal. Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a synthetic, sharp mineral ideal for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut rate and long life, producing a finer finish despite silicon carbide breaking down faster. Belt sanders equipped with these belts enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on multiple surfaces without clogging, as the small grooves in the abrasive belt open around the drive wheel arc, enhancing efficiency. Typical applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing straight line brushed finishes, primarily serving metalworking industries.
