The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 6" x 132" and features CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to accommodate a wide range of belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. The product range includes belts for wide belt sanders used in sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders suitable for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking file tools to access small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a synthetic, very sharp mineral commonly used for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering high cut-rate and long life. Silicon carbide tends to break down faster but produces a finer finish compared to aluminum oxide. Belt sanders equipped with these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging due to the small grooves in the abrasive belt that open as the belt moves around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing straight-line brushed finishes, primarily serving metalworking industries.
