The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 6" x 132" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral, known for its hard, blocky composition that provides a high cut rate and long life. These belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives, making them suitable for various applications on both wood and metal. The belts are designed to fit a range of industrial belt sanders including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders typically used on cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking file tools to access small or inside corner areas. Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are preferred for their ability to avoid clogging due to small grooves in the belt surface that open as the belt passes around the drive wheel arc, maintaining sanding efficiency on different surfaces. Common applications include blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing a straight-line brushed finish.
