The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 6" x 158" and features medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs caused by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. The belts are available in various widths and lengths, compatible with numerous belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal surfaces. The product line includes belts designed for wide belt sanders used in sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders suitable for sanding or blending smaller wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts intended for metalworking with file tools to access tight areas or inside corners. The abrasive minerals offered are silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure tasks such as paint preparation and finishing that produces a finer finish but breaks down faster, and aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral known for its high cut rate and long life. Belt sanders utilizing these belts are effective for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing of various surfaces, with the advantage of resistance to clogging due to the small grooves in the abrasive belts that open as they move around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish, primarily serving the metalworking industry.
