The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ SE surface conditioning belt measures 1/2" by 24" and features aluminum oxide fine grit for durable performance in cleaning, blending, deburring, and finishing on various metals. Made from resin-reinforced non-woven fiber, these belts resist loading and prevent under-cutting or gouging on the work piece, offering high initial and sustained cut rates along with superior edge durability. Suitable for low stretch applications, the belts contain a woven fabric scrim embedded in the nylon structure for added strength and durability, especially during edge work and efficient blending on all metal types. The coarse grade aluminum oxide abrasive mineral used is known for its toughness, self-fracturing to expose fresh cutting edges, which enhances cut-rate, hardness, strength, and reduces heat retention. This makes it effective on a wide range of substrates including ferrous alloys, making it ideal for grinding, sanding, and finishing in both woodworking and metalworking. The belt is designed to perform efficiently in belt sanders that avoid clogging by maintaining abrasive grooves, unlike sanding wheels and discs which tend to clog and reduce effectiveness during use.
