The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 3" x 11" and is made from CRS grit aluminum oxide. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in a variety of widths and lengths, the abrasive belts are compatible with different belt sanding tools used in wood and metal applications. The Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are manufactured using either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure tasks such as paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but with faster wear, whereas aluminum oxide offers a hard, blocky mineral with high cut-rate and long life. Belt sanders employing these belts are effective for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on diverse surfaces, benefiting from small grooves in the abrasive belt that prevent clogging as it moves around the drive wheel’s arc, unlike sanding wheels and discs. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish. These belts are primarily used in metalworking industries. The product comes with a warranty term as specified by 3M.
