The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2" x 60" and features a CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive designed for removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These belts are available in various widths and lengths to accommodate different industrial belt sanding tools used on wood and metal surfaces. Wide belts are suited for sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for woodworking tasks such as cabinet door sanding or blending, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to reach small areas or inside corners. The Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is synthetic, sharp, and ideal for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide offers a hard, blocky structure for high cut-rate and long life. Belt sanders employing these belts enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing without clogging due to the opening of small grooves in the abrasive belt as it moves around the drive wheel. Applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish.
