The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 3" x 11" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed for removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These SC surface conditioning belts are available in various widths and lengths to accommodate a range of belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. They are manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is synthetic and sharp, suited for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide offers a hard, blocky structure that provides a high cut rate and extended life. Belt sanders equipped with these belts perform rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on multiple surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging due to small grooves on the belt that open around the drive wheel. Common applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finishes, primarily serving metalworking industries.
