The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Durable Flex Belt measures 3" x 132" and features a CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive on a non-woven fiber material that runs cool, resists loading, and holds up to edge work, delivering consistent finishing performance throughout the belt's life. The belt is identified by its purple backing and uses aluminum oxide, a tough, durable abrasive known for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for grinding, sanding, and finishing a wide variety of substrates in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Aluminum oxide abrasives self-fracture to expose fresh cutting edges, outperforming traditional abrasives like garnet. This belt is designed for use with belt sanders, which maintain efficiency by preventing clogging through grooves that open as the belt moves around the drive wheel. Applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine and flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish.
