Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are designed for effectively removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths, compatible with different belt sanding tools for a wide range of applications on both wood and metal. The belts are manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint prep and finishing, while aluminum oxide offers a high cut-rate and long life. Although silicon carbide breaks down faster, it yields a finer finish. Belt sanders provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing without clogging, as small grooves in the abrasive belt open as they move around the drive wheel. Applications include blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finish, primarily within the metalworking industry.
