The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 4" x 24" and features CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive, suitable for removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths designed to fit a wide range of industrial belt sanders, from wide belt sanders for large wood panels to medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders used in wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking files targeting small areas or inside corners. The Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide, which is a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard blocky mineral that offers high cutting rates and long life. Although silicon carbide wears down faster, it delivers a finer finish compared to aluminum oxide. Belt sanders equipped with these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, with the advantage of resisting clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open as the belt moves around the drive wheel, maintaining efficiency. Typical applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, grain setting, stainless steel finishing, and straight line brushed finishes, primarily serving the metalworking industry.
