The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 4" x 24" and features medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral, designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit a wide range of industrial belt sanding tools used on wood and metal surfaces. Wide belts are suitable for sanding and finishing large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The aluminum oxide mineral provides a hard, blocky structure for high cut-rate and long life, making it appropriate for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing without clogging due to small grooves that open as the belt passes around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and creating a straightline brushed finish, primarily serving the metalworking industry.
