The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Durable Flex Belt measures 3" x 132" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive on a non-woven fiber material that runs cool, resists loading, and withstands edge work. The belt’s purple backing distinguishes it within the Scotch-Brite™ Durable Flex Belt line. Aluminum oxide abrasive is chosen for its effective cutting action, high cut-rate, durability, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for grinding, sanding, and finishing a wide variety of substrates, including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking applications. This abrasive self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges during use, providing consistent finishing performance over the belt’s life. Belt sanders using this belt offer rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing without clogging, thanks to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing a straight-line brushed finish, primarily used in metalworking industries.
