The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Belt measures 13" x 60" with VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives, and are available in various widths and lengths for use on a variety of belt sanding tools across applications involving wood and metal. The belts fit most industrial belt sanders including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders used in sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking with file tools to reach small areas or inside corners. The abrasive mineral options include silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, and aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral providing high cut-rate and long life, with aluminum oxide yielding longer belt life and silicon carbide producing a finer finish. Belt sanders facilitate rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on varied surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt which open as they pass over the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and creating straight-line brushed finishes, predominantly within metalworking industries.
