The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1-3/4" x 77" and features VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed for removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit a range of belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal. Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is very sharp and suited for low-pressure tasks like paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut-rate and long life, producing a coarser finish compared to silicon carbide, which breaks down faster but yields a finer finish. Belt sanders utilizing these belts enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, with belts resisting clogging by opening small grooves as they move around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straight-line brushed finish. The product is principally used in metalworking industries.
