The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 14" x 59" and features VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide minerals; silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but breaking down faster, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral providing a high cut rate and long life. Belt sanders equipped with these belts enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, overcoming clogging issues common to sanding wheels and discs due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open when passing around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finishes, primarily utilized in the metalworking industry.
