The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 4" x 24" with VFN grit and features aluminum oxide abrasive mineral. These belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives and are available in various widths and lengths to fit multiple industrial belt sanders. Wide belts are used for sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts suit edge or portable sanders for blending wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts are designed for file tools in metalworking to reach small areas or inside corners. Manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide, silicon carbide offers a sharper, finer finish ideal for low-pressure paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide provides a hard, blocky composition for high cut-rate and extended life. Belt sanders utilizing these belts offer rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on diverse surfaces without clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish.
