The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ SE Surface Conditioning Belt measures 2" x 34" and is constructed of resin-reinforced non-woven fiber designed to resist loading and prevent under-cutting or gouging of the workpiece. It features a woven fabric (scrim) embedded in the nylon structure for added strength and durability, making it suitable for edge work, deburring, and efficient blending on all metal types. The belt utilizes coarse grade aluminum oxide abrasive, known for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it ideal for grinding, sanding, and finishing applications on a wide variety of substrates, including ferrous alloys. The aluminum oxide mineral self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges during use, enhancing longevity compared to traditional abrasives like garnet. The belt is engineered to provide high initial and extended rates of cut while maintaining superior edge durability and is suitable for low stretch applications. Belt sanders using this product offer rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing without clogging, as the abrasive belt’s small grooves open as they pass around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, finishing, and flat finishing.
