The 3M™ Trisect™ cloth belt 237AA measures 6" x 48" and features A16 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. Its abrasive and resin structure is designed to break down under medium pressure, maintaining fresh, sharp mineral cutting for consistent finishes on hard metals such as carbon and stainless steel. The belt incorporates a grinding aid to prevent heat buildup, warping, and discoloration, and is constructed on an X-weight, durable cloth backing that provides control, conformability, and effective medium-pressure grinding. The resin-bonded abrasive enhances heat resistance and prevents delaminating. The belt uses a film media splice, a thin film-joining media that secures the belt ends, minimizing chatter marks and ensuring smooth operation and consistent finishing. Compared to conventional abrasive products, proprietary Trisect™ abrasives yield a finer finish, faster results, and longer life, with belts lasting up to five times longer than conventional discs. This durability allows for precise finish control, enabling operators to reduce grade sequences, process steps, and the number of abrasive products needed. The three-dimensional abrasive structures are uniformly distributed for consistent performance and eliminate variation between discs. Typical applications include blending, centerless and cylindrical grinding, finishing, flat finishing, refining, and stroke sanding, serving industries such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plating and polishing, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
