The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 3/4" x 18" and features silicon carbide SFN grit designed for detailed work including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. This durable belt effectively removes coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in multiple widths and lengths, these abrasive belts fit a variety of belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal. Wide belts suit large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts are compatible with edge or portable sanders for wood pieces like cabinet doors, while narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking for small areas or inside corners. The belt offers a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a synthetic sharp mineral suitable for low-pressure tasks such as paint preparation and finishing, providing a finer finish but shorter life, whereas aluminum oxide is a hard mineral delivering high cut-rate and long life. Belt sanders enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on multiple surfaces, outperforming sanding wheels and discs by preventing clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open during use.
