The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1" x 48" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral, which provides a high cut-rate and long life. These surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives, and are compatible with various belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal. The Scotch-Brite™ SC series belts are available in multiple widths and lengths to fit wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders used in woodworking like cabinet door finishing, and narrow belts for metalworking tools accessing small or intricate areas. The aluminum oxide mineral is blocky and durable, contrasting with the sharper but faster deteriorating silicon carbide mineral known for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing. Belt sanders equipped with these belts offer efficient, clog-resistant sanding on different materials, as the abrasive belt’s small grooves open during operation to maintain performance. Typical applications include blending and blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straight line brushed finish, primarily within metalworking industries.
