The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1" x 72" and features CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, these abrasive belts are compatible with a range of belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. Wide belts are designed for sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured using either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral known for its sharpness and suitability for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut rate and long life. Belt sanders provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces without clogging, as the small grooves in the abrasive belt open around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finish, primarily within the metalworking industry.
