The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 3/4" x 20 1/2" and features aluminum oxide CRS grit. It is a durable belt designed for detailed tasks including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring edges, fine and flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. The Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belt effectively removes coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts come in multiple widths and lengths suitable for different belt sanding tools used on both wood and metal. Wide belts are ideal for sanding and finishing large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to reach small areas or inside corners. Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals: silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, offering a finer finish but a shorter lifespan, whereas aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral providing a high cut rate and longer life. Belt sanders equipped with these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing and maintain efficiency without clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel's arc.
