The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1" x 72" with VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts are compatible with a range of industrial belt sanding tools used for applications on both wood and metal. Wide belts suit wide belt sanders for sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The belts feature abrasive minerals of either silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint prep and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral known for high cut-rate and long life. Although silicon carbide wears down faster, it yields a finer finish. Belt sanders offer rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging due to the opening of small grooves as the belt moves around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straight-line brushed finish.
