The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1/2" x 12" and features aluminum oxide CRS grit designed for detail work including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. This durable belt effectively removes coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are compatible with a range of belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal. Wide belts suit sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts fit edge or portable sanders for cabinet doors or similar wood pieces, and narrow belts are used with file tools for metalworking in small or internal areas. The belts are manufactured using either silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications and paint prep, or aluminum oxide, a hard mineral offering high cut rate and long life. While silicon carbide provides a finer finish but breaks down faster, aluminum oxide is more durable with extended life. Belt sanders utilizing these belts prevent clogging due to small grooves in the belt abrasive that open as they pass around drive wheels, ensuring continuous sanding efficiency.
