The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 3/8" x 18" and features aluminum oxide VFN grit. This durable belt is designed for detail work including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring and deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straight-line brushed finishes on various metals. It effectively removes coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. The belt is compatible with a wide range of industrial belt sanders, including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders used on wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking tasks requiring access to small areas or inside corners. Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are made with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; aluminum oxide offers a high cut rate and long life, while silicon carbide, which is synthetic and very sharp, is suited for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing but breaks down faster. The belt’s design includes small grooves that prevent clogging by opening as the belt moves around the arc of the drive wheel, maintaining sanding efficiency.
