Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belt is a durable belt designed for detail work such as blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. These belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in multiple widths and lengths, they are compatible with a variety of belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. Wide belt sanders are suitable for sanding and finishing large wood panels, while medium-width belts are ideal for edge or portable sanders, and narrow belts are effective with file tools in metalworking for accessing small areas or corners. The Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals, where silicon carbide is a sharp, synthetic mineral favored for low-pressure applications like paint prep and finishing, and aluminum oxide is a robust mineral providing high cut-rate and longevity. While silicon carbide may break down more quickly than aluminum oxide, it delivers a finer finish. Belt sanders are preferred for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces due to their design which prevents clogging, as the small grooves in the belt open during use, allowing for continued efficient sanding. Applications include blending, cleaning, contour finishing, and setting the grain.
