The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 30 inches by 60 inches and features Very Fine Non-Woven (VFN) grit with aluminum oxide abrasive mineral. This durable belt is designed for detail work including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straight-line brushed finishes on various metals. It effectively removes coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. The belt fits a range of industrial belt sanders, with options for different widths and lengths suited to wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders used on wood such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking tools accessing small areas or inside corners. Manufactured with aluminum oxide, the belt offers a high cut rate and long life; aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky abrasive mineral compared to silicon carbide, which is sharper but wears faster and produces a finer finish. The belt sanding process resists clogging due to the small grooves opening as the belt moves around the drive wheel.
