The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 3" x 24" and is made from CRS grit aluminum oxide. These surface conditioning belts are designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. They come in various widths and lengths to fit a range of belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. The belts are available with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral known for its high cut rate and long life, while silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral, is suited for low-pressure tasks like paint preparation and finishing and delivers a finer finish but breaks down faster. Belt sanders equipped with these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces without clogging, as the belts feature small grooves that open while wrapping around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing a straightline brushed finish, serving industries such as marine and metalworking.
