The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1" x 21" and features aluminum oxide VFN grit. This durable belt is engineered for detail work including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straight-line brushed finishes on various metals. It effectively removes coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in multiple widths and lengths, these abrasive belts fit a variety of belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal, from wide belt sanders used for large wood panels to narrow belts designed for metalworking in small areas and inside corners. The Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure tasks like paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut rate and long life. Silicon carbide breaks down faster but produces a finer finish compared to aluminum oxide. Belt sanders equipped with these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on many surfaces and resist clogging due to the abrasive belt’s small grooves that open around the drive wheel’s arc, unlike sanding wheels and discs which may clog depending on the material.
