The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1" x 30" and features CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral, designed to effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These surface conditioning belts come in various widths and lengths to fit a wide range of belt sanding tools used on wood and metal. Wide belts are suitable for large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for tasks such as sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to reach small areas or inside corners. The belt incorporates a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasives; silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral, is ideal for low-pressure applications like paint prep and finishing, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut-rate and long life. Belt sanders with these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on a variety of materials, maintaining efficiency as abrasive belts resist clogging due to small grooves opening as the belt moves around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish.
