The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1" x 30" and features SFN grit silicon carbide. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, these abrasive belts are suitable for different belt sanding tools used on both wood and metal. 3M™ offers a broad selection designed to fit most industrial belt sanders. Wide belts are ideal for sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts suit edge or portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking for accessing small areas or inside corners. Manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals, the silicon carbide option is a synthetic mineral known for its sharpness, best suited for low-pressure applications such as paint prep and finishing. Aluminum oxide provides a high cut rate and long life due to its hard, blocky nature. Although silicon carbide wears down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a finer finish. Belt sanders facilitate rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging because the abrasive belt’s small grooves open while moving around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline brushed finishes, primarily within metalworking industries.
