The Federal Signal Model 52 resonating horn produces 114 dBA at 10 feet (124 dBA at 1 m) with a range of 1,000 feet, making it capable of penetrating high ambient noise levels. It operates electrically, eliminating the need for an air compressor. Designed for off-road use, the Model 52 withstands shocks, vibrations, dust, and harsh atmospheric conditions, with an operating temperature range of -40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C). The unit features rubber gaskets and a power connector, ensuring it is completely watertight. Its projector and internal components are constructed from zinc-coated steel or stainless steel for corrosion resistance, while the exterior is sealed with gray enamel paint. The die-cast aluminum housing and tied, adhesive-bonded internal wiring help prevent electrical shorts, wire breakage, and loose connections. The Model 52 operates on 24 VDC with an 18-32 V operating range to accommodate voltage inconsistencies and has a duty cycle of five minutes on and five minutes off.
