The Federal Signal Model A is a general-purpose electro-mechanical siren designed for industrial applications, producing a distinctive sound with high maximum pitch for excellent contrast against ambient noise. This model, introduced in 1918, is suited for rugged and extreme environments. It operates with a universal motor at 120VAC or 125VDC and features a fractional horsepower motor that drives a ported aluminum rotor within a specially designed stator to generate its unique sound. A small internal fan cools the motor during operation, with a recommended duty cycle of five minutes on and five minutes off. The siren emits an attention-getting sound level of 103dBA at 10 feet (113dBA at 1 meter) and a frequency of 1060Hz at full R.P.M. Its metal housing is sealed with red powder coating for enhanced corrosion resistance and aesthetic appeal. A swivel mount bracket is included for wall and surface mount installations. The Model A is UL and cUL listed, as well as FM approved, with contact ratings for the push button stations of 600VAC at 3 amps and 250VDC at 1 amp. It comes with a 5-year limited warranty.
