Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives on both wood and metal surfaces. The abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit a range of industrial belt sanders, including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders used on wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking file tools to access small areas or inside corners. These belts feature abrasives made from either silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that delivers a high cut rate and long life, with silicon carbide providing a finer finish despite breaking down faster. Belt sanders equipped with these belts are effective for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on diverse surfaces, maintaining efficiency by preventing clogging through small grooves in the belts that open as they move around the drive wheel. Primary applications include adhesive, coating, sealant, and corrosion removal, blending, and deburring, with specific uses such as blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finishes, primarily within the metalworking industry.
