The 3M™ cloth belt 777F measures 4" x 72" and features an 80 grit ceramic abrasive designed to protect against heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. It incorporates a grinding aid that reduces running temperatures, while the abrasive is bonded to the cloth backing with a resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. The proprietary 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain enhances toughness and hardness, and the belt includes a blend of aluminum oxide with ceramic abrasive grain for increased performance, making it ideal for moderate to heavy stock removal and surface preparation. This ceramic/aluminum oxide blend outperforms standard aluminum oxide abrasives in both cut-rate and durability. The 777F belt is recommended for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings, particularly on stainless steel or exotic metal alloys. The belts come in various widths and lengths to fit a range of industrial belt sanders, with wider belts suited for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and metal sheets, medium-width belts for edge sanders to work on narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders used in applications such as cabinet door sanding or blending. The 3M™ cloth belt 777F features a film splice that adds strength for high-pressure grinding applications, while an L-Flex splice option provides increased flexibility and conformity for softer finishing and blending tasks.
