The 3M™ Cloth Belt 777F 2-1/2" x 60" 50 Grit Ceramic is designed to protect against heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys by using a grinding aid that reduces running temperatures. The abrasive is resin-bonded to the backing to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. This belt is recommended for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings of stainless steel and other exotic metal alloys. It features proprietary 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain, a ceramic mineral enhancing toughness and hardness, blended with aluminum oxide for increased performance, resulting in a harder, longer-lasting abrasive. This ceramic/aluminum oxide blend surpasses standard aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability, making it ideal for moderate to heavy stock removal and surface preparation in applications involving intense heat and stress. The belts are available in multiple widths and lengths suited for sanding both wood and metal, fitting various industrial belt sanders. Wider belts are used in wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and metal sheets or to add grain patterns to stainless steel sheets, while medium-width belts are suited for edge sanders on flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and narrow belts are compatible with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. The belts feature various flexibilities and splices joining the belt ends; the 3M™ Cloth Belt 777F uses a film splice for added strength in high-pressure grinding applications, and when increased flexibility is required for conformity or a softer touch in finishing and blending, an L-Flex option provides greater flexibility than the STA splice.
