It includes a heavyweight cloth backing that supports high-pressure applications and works well on heat-sensitive metals, usable in both wet and dry conditions. The belt protects heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys with a grinding aid that reduces running temperatures, and the abrasive is resin-bonded to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Recommended for use on stainless steel and exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings, the proprietary 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain enhances toughness and hardness. The aluminum oxide blended with ceramic grain delivers a harder, longer-lasting abrasive optimized for moderate to heavy stock removal and surfaces subject to intense heat and stress, outperforming aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability. Available in various widths and lengths fitting most industrial belt sanders, wider belts suit wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing metal sheet edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets; medium-width belts are for edge sanders on flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges; narrow belts are used with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces. The product complies with relevant industrial standards and features a resin bond abrasive for durability and heat resistance.
