The 3M™ cloth belt 777F measures 1/2" x 24" and features a ceramic 36 grit abrasive composed of a blend of 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain and aluminum oxide for increased durability and cutting efficiency, suitable for moderate stock removal to finishing operations. The heavyweight cloth backing supports high-pressure applications, works well on heat-sensitive metals, and can be used in wet or dry conditions. It is designed to protect against heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys through a grinding aid that reduces running temperatures, and the abrasive is resin-bonded to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. The belt is recommended for use on stainless steel and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. The proprietary 3M™ ceramic grain enhances toughness and hardness, while the aluminum oxide blend increases performance, offering a harder, longer-lasting abrasive capable of fast cutting and handling intense heat and stress. This ceramic/aluminum oxide blend outperforms aluminum oxide abrasives in cut rate and durability, making it ideal for moderate stock removal and surface preparation on wood and metal. The belts come in various widths and lengths to fit most industrial belt sanders and are used on wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough metal edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets, on edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and on portable sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces. The product includes a warranty covering manufacturing defects with terms as specified by 3M.
