3M™ Portable Utility Cloth Roll 314D is designed for hand sanding across various applications, featuring light-weight cloth sanding strips constructed with aluminum oxide abrasive. The utility rolls are available in a range of grades for common tasks such as deburring, blending, repairing metal finishes, removing rust or contaminants, and preparing surfaces for paints and coatings. Users can easily tear the desired length of strip from the roll for specific applications. Most grades feature a light, J-weight cloth backing that offers the flexibility to conform to circular edges, angles, or other contours, while rolls in grades P50 or P60 have a stiffer X-weight backing suitable for more coarse sanding. The cloth is durable and withstands bending or rolling without tearing or shelling, enabling users to easily tear strips by hand when smaller pieces are needed without compromising the sanding surface.
