3M™ Scotch-Brite™ General Purpose Hand Pad 7447 measures 6" x 9" and features aluminum oxide VFN grit, combining flexibility with effective cutting action and precise hand control for tough cleaning and fine finishing tasks. This very fine grade aluminum oxide abrasive allows for fast and fine cutting, resulting in a smooth, finished surface and is suitable for a wide variety of materials. The performance of the pad is comparable to steel wool grade 1 but benefits from not shredding during use, rusting, or creating fine metal splinters. Made from non-woven, open-web material, the pad resists loading and can be used dry, with water, or with solvents, and can be rinsed clean for reuse. This multipurpose pad can be used by hand for precise control, with a hand pad block for uniform finishing, or on an in-line sander for larger areas. The pad utilizes aluminum oxide abrasive, known for its high cut-rate, durability, and self-fracturing capabilities that expose fresh cutting edges, making it effective for grinding, sanding, and finishing applications on various substrates, including ferrous alloys.
