Each cabinet includes a high-security key lock with two keys, located on the top drawer, which unlocks all drawers simultaneously. A lock-bypass mechanism allows selected drawers to remain unlocked while others stay locked. The cabinets are fire rated at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 1-hour protection for documents and paper, tested at 1700 degrees Fahrenheit for fire resistance and explosion-tested at 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. They are impact-rated, enduring a drop of 30 feet onto concrete rubble, followed by reheating in fire, simulating real-world conditions. The water resistance is ensured by the Phoenix labyrinth sealing system and special gaskets, which prevent water damage from fire hose spray or sprinklers. Digital protection is provided for computer storage devices including CDs, DVDs, USB drives, and memory sticks/cards. An anti-tip safety mechanism prevents more than one drawer from opening at a time. The drawers feature a rugged three-way suspension system for stability and smooth movement, even when fully loaded, with each drawer being a separate insulated container with an inner steel jacket to keep insulation concealed and prevent fire from spreading between drawers.
