The TFFN 16 gauge building wire is a stranded type wire, available in blue, designed for a variety of applications including fixture wiring, machine tool wiring, and appliance wiring as detailed in the 2008 National Electrical Code. When utilized as type TFFN, it is suitable for temperatures not exceeding 90°C. As type MTW, it can be used in wet locations or when exposed to oil or coolant at temperatures not to exceed 60°C, or in dry locations at temperatures not to exceed 90°C, with ampacity limited to that for 75°C conductor temperature per NFPA 79. The conductor can endure temperatures up to 105°C in dry locations when rated AWM and used as appliance wiring material. This wire is rated for a voltage of 600 volts. The TFFN, MTW, and AWM types meet or exceed UL standard 66 and comply with the National Electrical Code, and it is RoHS compliant. The construction consists of annealed (soft) copper conductors insulated with a durable, heat and moisture resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), topped with a nylon (polyamide) jacket. It is available in multiple colors, including black, white, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, purple, gray, and pink, with some colors being standard and others subject to economic order quantity. Additionally, it is resistant to oil and gasoline as defined by Underwriters Laboratories.
