The 3M™ Cloth Belt 777F measures 2" x 72" with a 60 grit ceramic abrasive grain, designed to protect against heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys by reducing running temperatures through a grinding aid. The abrasive is bonded with resin to its cloth backing, ensuring durability under high heat and pressure. Recommended for stainless steel and exotic metal alloys, it is suitable for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. The proprietary ceramic abrasive grain enhances toughness and hardness, combined with aluminum oxide to form a ceramic/aluminum oxide blend that offers harder, longer-lasting abrasive performance for moderate to heavy stock removal. This blend surpasses standard aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability, making the 777F ideal for surface preparation and fast cutting under intense heat and stress. The belts come in various widths and lengths to fit most industrial sanders—wide belts are used for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth metal sheet edges, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts suit portable sanders for wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The 777F belt features a film splice that provides added strength for grinding under high pressure, supporting high-performance sanding applications.
