The 3M™ Cloth Belt 777F measures 2" x 48" and features a 36 grit ceramic abrasive designed to protect against heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. It includes a grinding aid that reduces running temperatures, and the abrasive is bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. This belt is recommended for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings, particularly on stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys. The abrasive grain is a proprietary 3M™ ceramic mineral that enhances toughness and hardness, combined with aluminum oxide to create a harder, longer-lasting abrasive suitable for moderate to heavy stock removal. Ceramic abrasives on this belt are engineered for fast cutting while handling intense heat and stress applications, outperforming standard aluminum oxide abrasives in cut rate and durability. Various widths and lengths are available to fit most industrial belt sanders, with wider belts used on wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough metal edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets; medium widths suited for edge sanders to sand flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges; and narrow belts compatible with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The belts come with different flexibilities and splice types; this 777F belt uses a film splice for added strength in high-pressure grinding applications. For increased flexibility needed to enhance conformity or provide a softer touch for finishing and blending, L-Flex options are available.
