The flowmeters are utilized for flow measurements in laboratory settings, pilot plants, chromatography for metering carrier gases, and in manufacturing processes for indicating and controlling gases, as well as for measuring flow rates in pumping or flow systems. Constructed from heavy-walled, shock-resistant borosilicate glass, these flowmeters can operate at pressures up to 200 p.s.i.g. and maximum temperatures of 121°C (250°F). They feature fused ceramic scales with an accuracy of ± 2% of full scale and a repeatability of 0.25%. The uniformly tapered bores include internal rib guides that stabilize the floats made of glass, stainless steel, or Carboloy. Flow measurement is achieved by reading the center of the float on a universal scale, which corresponds to a flow rate for the specific fluid or gas on a supplied calibration chart. Available in four styles—65mm scale sizes 1-6 and 150mm scale sizes 1-5—the flowmeters utilize millimeter scales correlating the height of the float with specific flow rates through appropriate calibration data sheets or curves. The black anodized aluminum frame features an exclusive tube-lock to prevent turning during locking and ensures stability under pressure or vacuum. A magnifying window along the full length of the scale facilitates easy reading, and rear-mounted tubing connectors allow for instrument attachment when used as a bench stand. An optional leveling base (H40404-1000) guarantees vertical alignment, minimizing errors from float-tube friction. Economical mounted flowmeters with aluminum fittings incorporate Buna-N, 316 stainless steel, and Delrin® valves with hose barbs that accommodate tubing with an inner diameter of 8mm to 9.5mm.
