3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Plastic Adhesive DP8010 blue is a two-part acrylic adhesive specially formulated to bond many low surface energy plastics, including numerous grades of polypropylene, polyethylene, and thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) without special surface preparation. This adhesive creates strong bonds without the need for special surface treatments such as chemical etching, plasma, flame, or corona treatment or priming; surface preparation is limited to simply wiping the surfaces with isopropanol to remove mold release agents, dust, and dirt. Additionally, it bonds metals, ceramics, and wood, and demonstrates slight flexibility when cured. The formulation includes 8 mil spacer beads for bond line spacing, promoting ease of adhesion with acrylic and providing excellent bond strength and durability. It is designed for professional-grade applications, enabling the bonding of multi-material assemblies including low surface energy (LSE) plastics, thermoplastics, composites, and metals. Recommended applications for DP8010 blue encompass joining plastics to metals in sectors such as electronics, transportation, and construction. The adhesive is long-lasting and durable, capable of withstanding humidity, water, corrosion, and a variety of chemicals, making it an extremely strong alternative to mechanical fasteners, screws, rivets, and spot welds in many situations.
